With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, it's got me thinking of where to go for Mexican food.  One of my favorite foods is Mexican food!  I was always a cheese enchilada lover and I'll never forget the first time I heard someone order a fish taco, I was confused, fish on a taco?  I was in Kansas City at a Mary Kay conference and out with a group of classy ladies and someone was ordering a fish taco.  I was intrigued.  Remember, I grew up in a small town of 450 people on the far eastern border of South Dakota, we didn't have any Mexican restaurants and certainly none with fish tacos.

Fast forward to living in Arizona and Mexican restaurants everywhere!  My family and I started out trying the nearest ones, Arriba, Macayos, Los Dos Molinos, to name a few.  But when we discovered Abuelos near Chandler Fashion Square, we were hooked.  I loved the dip sampler, the cheese enchiladas and black beans.  The molten lava cake for dessert kept us coming back until we discovered Blanco.  Blanco has it all from the chips and queso fundido, to the delicious spicy pineapple margarita and everything on the menu is fabulous.  We did a lot of Blanco carry out during Covid.  Blanco often requires reservations unless you're willing to wait.  But then someone recommended trying Toca Madera.  Oh My Goodness!  That place has it all, fabulous and unique food, drinks and the entertainment is unreal.  It's like a nightclub and restaurant all in one.  The Ghost Rider margarita is my favorite because it is flaming when it arrives.   It is truly an experience and one that doesn't come easily because reservations are hard to come by.  Our newest find is The Mission in Old Town Scottsdale.  We love the atmosphere as well as the drinks and the food.  Their table side guacamole is our favorite.  I adore their fish tacos.  We've never had a disappointing meal there.  We prefer the atmosphere inside rather than outside.  We always have to make a reservation.

The next restaurant on our list is Taco Guild.  We have friends who love it.  They're already fully booked for Cinco de Mayo so we'll have to wait.

What is your favorite Mexican restaurant?  I'd love to hear about it.  If you comment with your fave, we'll send you a special treat on the 5th of May!
